Drink Lots of water

Drink a lot of water and in order to do this there are a few tricks;

  • how to drink more waterCarry a larger container of water – This will allow you to get your intake without having to constantly refill and will increase the likelihood that you will drink more.
  • Infuse your water – Add lemon, mint or a seasonal fruit of your choice (watermelon or peaches are yummy). Some people find it easier to drink water if it is ice cold vs room temperature. Try both to determine which allows you to drink more.
  • Drink at peak times of dehydration – Drink a quart first thing when you wake up (have it next to your bed if you like) when we wake up our body craves nourishment a class of water and lemon is a great way to start. Another optimal time for drinking water is while working out so during both of these times keep a large bottle of water close by.
  • Know where the free rest rooms are (Starbucks is one that I usually run to). It can be a challenge especially if you are always on the run and in a metropolitan area but it is really helpful to know where the best places are so that you are not afraid to drink as much water as your heart desires

Get your  daily recommended water intake  to be sure that you are getting enough water for your your height and weight. A good place to start is 8 8oz glasses a day.
